THANKS JOE!

Joe Liszak, CEO, marks 25 years of leadership and growth with CHS

As Community Health Services (CHS), begins it's 50th year serving Fremont and surrounding communities in Northwest Ohio, we recognize the tremendous growth the organization has undergone over the past 25 years under the leadership of Joseph (Joe) Liszak, MBA.  Joe is the second CEO in the history of the organization, and he was was just 29 years old when he accepted the position on January 1,1997.   Despite the fact that Joe took over the leadership of CHS at a young age, he brought both experience and vision that transformed the organization.

Over the past 25 years, Community Health Services has grown from two locations--one in Fremont and a seasonal clinic in Willard, to a regional health care system with nine offices in six counties.  Joe took over CHS with a team of 30 dedicated employees who supported Joe's vision, and worked together to move the organization forward.  Today, CHS has over 130 employees including 31 medical and dental providers.  The organization sees approximately 44,000 visits across the system each year.

Some key accomplishments under Joe Liszak's leadership include:

  • Expansion from two locations in two counties, to nine locations in six counties
  • Achieving financial stability to ensure access to care for generations to come
  • Obtaining and maintaining Joint Commission Accreditation, demonstrating the organization's commitment to the highest quality of care for the people we serve
  • Opening a new 29,000 square foot main office, located on 32 acres in Fremont, substantially increasing access to services and providing space for future expansion
  • Expanding dental services in Fremont and adding dental sites in Fostoria and Napoleon
  • The addition of pediatrics and OB/GYN care
  • The addition of Behavioral Health services in Fremont, Stony Ridge and Lima--and via TeleHealth in all markets
  • Introducing TeleHealth services at the onset of the pandemic, and maintaining this option to ensure access to care
  • Establishing Community Health Services as a critical partner in the region's health care delivery system--partnering with hospitals, other health care providers, health departments and community resources
  • Responding to the ongoing challenges presented by the pandemic including testing, vaccines and other services as needed in the communities we serve

In early 2022, CHS will open another building on it's campus--The Keen Building, named for Mary Keen, a founding member of the organization and former Chief Operating Officer.  There are also plans underway to open a vision center on the main campus in Fremont, Ohio.

Joe Liszak's vision and leadership will benefit generations to come with expanded health care services, delivered with an emphasis on quality and compassion for every individual we serve.
